at the 5th International Exhibition of Weapons and Military Equipment INDODEFENCE – 2012

The INDODEFENCE Exhibition is held twice a year, and this year’s conference has been the fifth since it was established in December 2004. The promoter of the exhibition was the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia. The exhibition was intended to accommodate the demonstration of all kinds of weapons and military equipment, which may be highly sought after on both local and regional markets.

The INDODEFENCE-2012 exhibition was the largest one in its history: over 520 participants (companies and government institutions from 50 countries) took part in the exhibition activity.

Almost all leading western producers of the weapons and military equipment, including  American and Western European consortiums and companies (the USA, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Turkey, Norway) mainly distinguished by the size of the exhibition area they occupied and the quantity of models they presented, were included in number of the foreign participants of the exhibition.

According to media reports, this exhibition was an important platform, where representatives of the global defence industry were able to demonstrate a wide variety of military products and technologies to satisfy the rising demand from Indonesia and other countries in the region.

OJSC Concern PVO Almaz-Antey took part in the exhibition for the second time (it took part in 2006 for the first time).

Models and advertisement posters for the main types of products were arranged at the exhibition stand of the Concern: the S-300VM Antey-2500 air defence missile weapon system, the Buk-M2E air defence system, the Tor-M2E air defence system; Club-S/-N missiles for the integrated missile systems of surface vessels and submarines; the Fundament-2E ACS, the Gibka and Komar flexible gun and Puma radar system.

Information about the Concern, its subsidiaries and affiliates and their products was placed in the official catalogue of the exhibition, and also in number of the industry editions:

the magazine “National Defence”, No. 7 (28), 2012;

the magazine “Army & Navy Review”, No. 6 (43), 2012;

the magazine “Asia Pacific Defence Reporter”, November 2012.

In addition, some materials were prepared independently by the subsidiaries and affiliates of the Concern:

an article by the Director General of JSC UMZ, V.V. Lapin, about the Buk-M2E air defence system and Tunguska-M1 air defence system in the magazine “National Defence”, No. 7 (28), 2012;

an article by the Director General of JSC UMZ, V.V. Lapin, about the Buk-M2E air defence system and Tunguska-M1 air defence system in the magazine “Army & Navy Review”, No. 6 (43), 2012;

material from JSC IEMZ Kupol about the Tor-M2E and Osa-AKM air defence systems, the magazine “PERAJURIT”, November 2012.

The demonstrations by the Concern and its subsidiaries and affiliates drew great interest from the officials and specialists from Indonesia and other countries.

The most notable among them were the Minister of Defence of Indonesia, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, and the special-purpose force operator of the Indonesia Armed Forces, Amabullah.

The models of the air defence systems and complexes demonstrated, as well as video materials with information about other high-technology products of the Concern and its subsidiaries and affiliates attracted the greatest interest among visitors to the pavilion.
